Biography
  • Grew up in Carouge, near Geneva, Switzerland
  • Diploma in Computer Science at ETH in Zurich, Switzerland, 1991
  • PhD in technical sciences from the Department of Computer Science also at ETH, 1997
  • Computer Scientist at the Space Sciences Laboratory in UC Berkeley, 1998-2001 
  • Faculty member at FHNW since 2001
  • Involved in several data science projects, including for the EU: EGSO, HELIO, HESPE, FLARECAST
  • Involved also in space projects, including RHESSI, Herschel, Euclid, Swisscube
  • Involved in the management of STIX, the Swiss X-ray telescope on Solar Orbiter
  • Head of the Institute of 4D Technologies 2008-2017
  • Head of the Institute for Data Science FHNW since 2018
