Andrea Buccarella

Andrea Buccarella is a harpsichordist, organist and conductor/musical director.

His musical training began as a puer cantor in the choir of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. After studies in organ and composition at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, he graduated in harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments under Enrico Baiano in Rome, and then obtained two master's degrees with honors in harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under Andrea Marcon.

Andrea is the artistic and musical director of the Abchordis Ensemble, which won first prize at the Handel Competition in Göttingen in 2015. As a soloist, he was the winner of the Musica Antiqua Bruges competition in 2018 and also won the Outhere Award. His CD TOCCATA received the Diapason d'Or Découverte in 2020.

Andrea Buccarella is interested in the rediscovery of musical works, especially from the 18th century repertoire in Italy. He performs with various vocal and instrumental ensembles (2020 Venice Baroque Orchestra, 2022 Orchestra Frau Musika) as Maestro al Cembalo.


In 2023 he substituted for Andrea Marcon at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and has been teaching the harpsichord class as assistant to Andrea Marcon since the autumn semester 2023-24.
