      Jaronas Scheurer

      Jaronas Scheurer

      Curriculum Vitae

      Jaronas Scheurer M.A. studied philosophy and musicology at the University of Basel. His musicological specialisations are in new and recent music and music aesthetics. From January to August 2018, he worked as a research assistant in the SNSF research project ‘Tuning and Polyphony in the Enlightenment’ with Prof. Dr Boris Previšić at the University of Lucerne. From 2018 to 2024, he was an assistant for modern music history at the Basel Musicology Department. In summer 2024, he submitted his doctoral thesis entitled ‘Unaufführbare Musik. Instrument and score as actors’. He also works as a journalist for radio and various magazines and newspapers and as a curator and programme designer.

      At the Basel Academy of Music, he has been working as a research assistant on the ‘Idioms of the Experimental’ research project since summer 2024 and also helps students on the Master of Music and Research programme to find their own voice and style in academic writing and presentation.
