Professor of educational science

Activities

Prof. Dr. habil. Elena Makarova heads the research group School and Professional Integration under Changing Societal Conditions at the Center for Learning and Socialization. She is a professor of educational science and a member of the Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Basel. She teaches educational science at the University of Applied Sciences FHNW and the Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Basel.

Main research focus:

  • Professional orientation and professional choice
  • Gender in the socialization and education process
  • Heterogeneity in the school environment
  • Acculturation and cultural identity
  • Adaptation of young people with a migration background
  • Values and values transmission

Areas of Expertise and Interest:
