Ecopreneurship

Developing environmentally friendly production processes and methods for cleaning, treating and recycling waste and wastewater.

It is becoming increasingly important to deal carefully with natural resources, particularly in a country like Switzerland, which is low in resources. This is why it is essential to cultivate a sustainable attitude towards the environment.

Environmental protection and promoting eco-efficiency involves developing preventive measures and innovative environmental and biotechnical processes to reduce emissions (e.g. micropollutants in wastewater) and to evaluate the environment (e.g. in biotests). In resource management, we deal with recycling resources from waste streams (e.g. phosphorus from sewage sludge or critical raw materials from secondary sources).

Designing environmentally compatible production processes, avoiding waste or disposing of it in an environmentally friendly way, and treating and recycling wastewater in an eco-friendly way. In these topic areas we develop action plans, test treatment technologies and evaluate their environmental compatibility.

We help companies analyse and optimise their processes on the road to resource-efficient and low-emission production. We also conduct research into recycling resources from waste streams, e.g. phosphorus from sewage sludge or critical raw materials from secondary sources. Environmental and biotechnical processes lay the foundations for further developing emission-reducing measures, e.g. to eliminate micropollutants in water and wastewater. We establish adapted and new biotests in the field of environmental assessment.
