Signal Analysis and Digital Biomarkers

Analysis of biosignals and sensor data for diagnostic systems. Development of signal processing algorithms for extraction of new digital biomarkers.

Today, sophisticated signal processing of biological patient data allows the maximum amount of relevant information to be extracted from data obtained during patient examinations.
Such careful analysis leads to faster and more reliable diagnosis without exposing patients to additional risks or burdens.

Our research group therefore focuses on the entire signal chain, starting from sensors (often electrodes or sensor arrays) to signal analysis, signal extraction and display of cleaned digital biomarkers relevant for further diagnostic or therapeutic decision.

To this end, we collaborate with various Swiss university hospitals and develop new diagnostic methods, which, thanks to real-time analysis, also lead to shorter and safer surgery.

Our group also has collaborations with industrial partners who need specific expertise in our fields or have a need for joint research.
