digital artists in residence / Digitale Künstler:innenresidenz
Schlachthaus Theater Bern and HGK Basel FHNW / PH FHNW are launching a new artistic digital residency program love+bytes and drag+drop.
Convinced that we need visions, imaginations and fictions to address burning societal issues, the program aims to function as a resonance space for exchanges and productions involving artists from across the globe involving citizens from Switzerland.
The artists will spend three digital months to exchange, reflect and possibly share ideas with co-agents in Switzerland of their choice. Whether and how they will produce an event/events, will be left to their decision. The digital will be format, means and production logic for considerations of and translations towards analogue spaces.
The two co-initiating institutions wish to provide potential contexts/audiences, as well as spaces for performance, learning and reflection in differing institutional contexts for a program they consider essential with a long term commitment.
On November 27th 2023 a winter 23/24 pilot has started with five artists. (Elvio Avila, Mithu Sen, Petra Serhal, Wana Udobang, Golf Thanupon Yindee).
At the end of the joint residency, the artists will jointly choose the next cohort of artists. The residency ends with a hand-over ceremony. Thus the next cohort of artists will start their residency with the traces of previous experiences and knowledge. The next love+bytes and drag+drop is planned to start in fall 2024 (funding to be confirmed).

Das Schlachthaus Theater Bern und die HGK Basel FHNW / PH FHNW lancieren ein neues künstlerisches Digital Residency Programm love+bytes and drag+drop.
In der Überzeugung, dass wir Visionen, Imaginationen und Fiktionen brauchen, um brennende gesellschaftliche Themen anzugehen, soll das Programm als Resonanzraum für den Austausch und die Produktion zwischen Künstler*innen aus der ganzen Welt und Bürger*innen aus der Schweiz dienen.
Die Künstler*innen investieren drei digitale Monate, um sich mit Co-Agent*innen global und in der Schweiz ihrer Wahl auszutauschen, zu reflektieren und möglicherweise Ideen zu teilen. Ob und wie die Künstler*innen eine Veranstaltung/mehrere Veranstaltungen produzieren, bleibt ihrer Entscheidung überlassen. Das Digitale wird Format, Mittel und Produktionslogik für Überlegungen und Übersetzungen in analoge Räume sein.
Die initiierenden Organisationen stellen potentielle Kontexte, mögliche Verbindungen zu soziokulturellen Kontexten, sowie Räume für Performance, Lernen und Reflexion in unterschiedlichen institutionellen Kontexten zur Verfügung.

Das nächste love+bytes and drag+drop soll im Herbst 2024 beginnen (Finanzierung muss noch bestätigt werden).
