“Openness is the key to learning and growing”

“Openness is the key to learning and growing”

Constantin Buda followed his passion and his heart – from Romania via Switzerland to Finland. Here is his story and his journey in his own words.

Constantin Buda came from Romania to Switzerland to study in the Bachelor’s programme Business Administration (International Management) at the FHNW School of Business. He graduated in 2007 and has since then started his own successful growth and consulting agency.

“I had three main reasons to study Business Administration (International Management) at FHNW. First, the programme is offered in English. Second, it teaches an international approach to business practices. And third, I already had friends and family living in Switzerland who helped me adapt to the different culture.

During my studies, I met remarkable people that became long-term friends. I remember these social interactions and encounters as highlights from my time as a student in Switzerland. Also, my exchange semester and the business project in my final year were great experiences and adventures.

Studying at FHNW opened me up to new possibilities and taught me an international approach to business. On some level, my studies here planted the seed for my interest in entrepreneurship and helped me change my mind-set.

Then: Constantin as a student surrounded by the Swiss mountain panorama.

Now: Constantin is the successful founder of his own growth agency.

After graduating from FHNW, I moved to Helsinki – not least, because I had met a Finnish exchange student at FHNW. I right away got a job with a company that offers business intelligence solutions, mainly in German-speaking countries. After that, I worked in several hardware and software companies, mainly in international sales and partner management. After finishing my MBA degree at Haaga Helia University of Applied Sciences, I decided to follow my interest in the start-up and entrepreneurship scene and I founded my own growth agency, Vidalico Digital, that helps B2B tech companies to grow internationally.

My key takeaway from my time at FHNW is: be open. Open to learn and open to connect with your fellow students and lecturers. I believe this openness is key to learning, growing and developing. Furthermore, do not settle for little. Challenge the information you receive – and be prepared to be challenged yourself.”
