LiSi brings professional lighting systems to the web: By combining web based system configuration with physically accurate light simulation in real-time, the project enables interactive and lighting design directly in the browser.

LiSi combines an intuitive, webbased configuration solution for professional lighting systems with a high-performance, physically realistic light simulation for interactive visualization in the browser.

Light is a central design element in architecture, shaping the atmosphere and perception of spaces significantly. Modern professional lighting systems are correspondingly complex, offering a wide range of individual configuration options and usually tailored specifically to client needs. Planning such systems typically involves dedicated software for specialists or manufacturer-specific online configurators, which often only partially represent the complexity and offer limited visual feedback.

LiSi addresses these challenges in collaboration with Swiss lighting manufacturer RIBAG. A generic yet powerful configuration logic allows for the individual setup of complex lighting systems, with a particular focus on user experience and interaction design. In addition, LiSi enables a physically based light simulation in real time. Using photometric data, the light distribution of any configuration is physically calculated and visualized in real time, on the web, and in 3D.
