      Eligibility

The sports programmes are essentially only open to FHNW students and staff.

Alumni and retired FHNW staff, students at other universities and the spouses or civil partners of FHNW students and staff may participate in certain FHNW Sports programmes by agreement with those responsible on site.

      Top-level sport and university study

At FHNW, the various schools are responsible for the degree subjects and programmes. Information on specific provisions relating to a particular school is issued by the course guidance department of the school concerned.

The requirement for enabling flexibility in a degree programme, however, is to hold a Swiss Olympic Card, or in exceptional cases have the approval of a sports association confirming squad membership at least at Swiss Olympic Talents Card level.

In the case of established top-level athletes, the aim is to enable the best possible coordination between degree studies and participation in sports at the highest level. Needs here vary considerably, so this requires short-term planning which will depend on the sport, the training schedule and the contests involved. For this reason, exceptional individual arrangements have to be arrived at for such things as examination dates or extension of the maximum study duration. The necessary schedule should be drawn up at the start of the degree course in collaboration with the relevant subject consultant. After this it is possible to submit an application for any exceptional arrangements as necessary.
