Banking and Finance specialisation

The current and future challenges for the financial industry are manifold and have far-reaching consequences for the global economy due to the importance of the financial system. In this specialisation, students acquire the techniques and models to survive in this difficult environment. In particular, you will become familiar with the banking risks  and how to hedge them to the desired extent. You will also be able to value equities, bonds and derivatives and construct efficient (equity) portfolios.

Content

You will acquire competencies in banking and finance and understand current capital market-oriented models:

  • Financial instruments and risk measures
  • Pricing interest rate swaps, derivative instruments etc.
  • Regulatory consequences of the financial crisis
  • Portfolio performance
  • Investment strategies
  • Risk-return efficient equity portfolios
  • Valuation of shares
  • Interest rate and foreign currency risks
  • Opportunities and risks of alternative investments
