International Networking and Educational Opportunities

An Interview with Prof. Dr. Laura Suter-Dick

In today's globalized world, international networking plays an increasingly vital role, particularly in science and research. Prof. Dr. Laura Suter-Dick, research group leader for cell biology and in vitro toxicology at the FHNW School of Life Sciences (HLS), firmly believes that experiences abroad are of great benefit to students. She is convinced that these experiences not only enable personal growth but also enrich academic development.

"Students should learn to interact with people and work environments in other cultures, both out of curiosity and also out of necessity, in a world that is and will remain global."

Prof. Dr. Laura Suter-Dick

The international orientation of her own career began during her studies. After completing her master's degree in Argentina she did a PhD in Berlin, followed by a postdoc position in Switzerland. These diverse experiences have not only made her proficient in several languages but also given her the ability to work effectively with people from various cultural backgrounds.

"Thanks to my multinational education I feel comfortable in several languages, which is professionally advantageous. Being adept at working with people from different cultural backgrounds is a highly valued soft skill for many companies."

Prof. Dr. Laura Suter-Dick

Laura is committed to providing students with an opportunity to gain international experience. "It helps them grow" she says, and she also sees it as a gateway to future career opportunities. She will continue to advocate providing even more students the chance to explore the world through international experiences.

Student exchange is encouraged and supported at the HLS. Would you also like to gain international experience? Contact the International Office today at aW50ZXJuYXRpb25hbC5saWZlc2NpZW5jZXNAZmhudy5jaA==.
