The FHNW School of Life Sciences visits Linköping University, Sweden

Linköping University (LiU), has been one of the most important partner universities of the FHNW School of Life Sciences (HLS) for many years. Our lecturers maintain close contacts with lecturers at LiU, making numerous student exchanges possible, e.g. in the context of BSc or MSc theses as well as double degree programmes.

An HLS delegation (Prof. Dr. G. Lipps, Dr. R. Raso and S. Lehmann) arrived in the snowy city in March and were warmly welcomed at both campuses (Campus Valla and University Hospital Campus). Talks on the double degree programme and future exchange opportunities for students generated valuable new contacts.

Three HLS students are currently studying at LiU. Daniel Bopp is doing an additional semester to earn a double degree; Lucas Krebs and Robin Obrist are both working on their BSc projects. We met the students in one of their regular cafés and chatted about life there, cultural differences with Switzerland and the long winter.

The partnership with Linköping University is a win-win situation for both universities. At LiU, our students benefit from an innovative education programme and world-leading research in an international environment. At the HLS, Swedish students benefit from close networks with industry and practice-oriented studies at the heart of the largest life science location in Europe.

All in all, it was a very profitable visit, which will facilitate future cooperation with our partner university.
