Profile

Prof. Dr. Bettina Schneider has been working at the Institute for Information Systems since 2016 and is involved in research as well as education and training. Bettina Schneider holds a degree in business informatics and business education. She started her academic career in 2012 with a doctorate at the University of Koblenz-Landau on the topic of 'Business Information Systems as a Research Field of Economic Education'.

Prior to her academic career, Bettina Schneider worked for a multinational pharmaceutical company in various management positions and several countries (Switzerland, Germany, Australia). Her work included the end-to-end design and implementation of regional and global SAP projects, including aspects of master data, data protection and access management. She led various international project teams and was responsible for numerous analytics, reporting & data mining initiatives.

In recent years, Bettina Schneider has focused on the topics of IT security, data protection and blockchain. Current research topics are "Cybersecurity for SMEs", "Data Privacy and Privacy-by-Design", "Blockchain Education", and "Cybersecurity Gamification". Bettina Schneider is the initiator of the Trinational Cybersecurity Day and is co-coordinator of the H2020 EU project called GEIGER. Since 2017, she is a member of the SATW Expert Group Industry 4.0 and in 2021 she was part of the EU Blockchain Observatory Forum 2.0.
