The research and development undertaken at the FHNW School of Education focuses primarily on the scholastic setting and the activity of teaching. This includes the school as an institution and organisation, and the teaching and learning provided inside it.

Objective: professionalising the role of the teacher
Educational research and development is aimed at enhancing the professionalisation of teachers. The resulting findings benefit from both academic rigour and differentiation, and are intended to help teachers perform their roles to the best of their abilities in an increasingly complex environment.
