Polymer Chemistry & Biomaterials

Novel materials have always been a key element for innovation in industry and society.

Today’s challenges in modern healthcare, environment preservation and technological development require even more thoughtful materials, fulfilling also sustainability criteria. In our group we focus on creating tangible and transferable results for industrial applications. Our research includes design and synthesis of sustainable polymers for homecare, food, cosmetics, pharma and agrochemical applications; valorization of biomass through bioderived monomers and polymers; materials for topical skin treatments for e.g. wound care; smart membranes for challenging separation in e.g., bioprocessing; graphene-based materials for membrane applications and energy storage; fluorine-free omniphobic surfaces; sustainable packaging; surface characterization. To assure state of the art teachings and research most projects are conducted in close collaboration with industrial and international academic partners.
