Business models for the Safe Reuse of Treated Wastewater in India

Support to Ganga Rejuvenation/India-EU Water Partnership Action; Consultancy on the Safe Reuse of Treated Water (SRTW) in India focusing on SRTW business model recommendations and the development of a SRTW Compendium considering approaches of the European Union.

The India-EU Water Partnership (IEWP) has been established to advance the political dialogue on water between the EU and India. In its Action Phase I, the National Framework on Safe Reuse of Treated Water (SRTW) was launched (National Mission of Clean Ganga, 2022). It sets the context, priorities, and direction for SRTW in India.

In the IEWP Action Phase II, FHNW, together with GIZ, Mu Gamma Consultants and Wash Institute, develop guidance materials on successful SRTW business models to support the implementation of the National Framework on SRTW. The project includes the development of a Business model Compendium showing best SRTW practices from EU an India and a feasibility assessment approach for the selection and evaluation of promising SRTW business models for Indian cities.
