Generalbass-Compendium

Hans Peter Weber's compendium of the basso continuo is a script for the basics of basso continuo practice first presented in 1997. It was intensively used by generations of students at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for aural training.

Its compact didactic structure has also made it well known and sought after outside Basel. Since October 2018, the original handwritten script has been available for the first time in a digital synoptic version in German/English. Access to Open Access is free of charge and barrier-free. You can use the book yourself and share it with others, only changes are not allowed.

The PDF is available in three versions:

1. Text only: you will receive a PDF with the text (11. 2. MB). You can click and listen to the corresponding sound samples on this website.

2. The synoptic text in PDF with integrated sound examples on the pages in german language. You can directly click and listen to the sound files in the text, but the document is 91. 5 MB in size. Please use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the sound files correctly.

3. The synoptic text in PDF with integrated sound examples on the pages in english language. You can directly click and listen to the sound files in the text, but the document is 99. 8 MB in size. Please use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the sound files correctly.
