Since 2007, Rolf Dornberger has been head of the Institute for Information Systems IWI at the School of Business HSW of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW. Additionally, since 2009, he has been a member of the R&D co-ordination board of the School of Business.
Since 2002, he has worked for the FHNW, respectively for its predecessor institution the University of Applied Sciences FH Solothurn, as a lecturer in undergraduate and graduate programmes teaching in the German and in the English languages, and – for several years – Deputy Programme Head Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology. He is lecturer in Business Information Technology and head of the competence centers New Trends & Innovation.
Before his professional activity at the FHNW, Rolf Dornberger worked at Swiss research and technology centers in the mechanical engineering-, energy-, airline- and software industry, and taught at various universities. His responsibilities included project management and management functions in the evaluation, research and develop-ment of new technologies in business information technology, computer science, and in engineering.
Rolf Dornberger studied aerospace engineering at the Universities of Stuttgart, Barcelona and Grenoble, and graduated with a PhD degree from the University of Stuttgart, in numerical methods for modelling and simulation. Besides, he took courses in economics at the Open University Hagen, Germany.
