Innovative AI solutions for real-world applications – from Deep Learning to Agentic AI
Research focus areas
Our research in the field of AI, Machine Learning & Natural Language Processing (NLP) is diverse, practice-oriented and methodologically broad-based – with a particular focus on Deep Learning as the technological core.
We conduct research in the following areas:
- Deep learning methods for pattern recognition, forecasting, classification and fake detection, particularly in connection with image processing (see below)
- Generative AI (GenAI), for example for text, image or code generation as well as simulation-based forecasting
- Agent-based AI systems (Agentic AI) with autonomous decision-making capabilities
Natural Language Processing (NLP) using state-of-the-art language models (Large Language Models, LLMs), in particular in connection with the translation of Swiss German.
Recommender systems and data-driven decision models
Time series analysis and hybrid approaches combining data-driven and physics-based modelling.
Our projects are interdisciplinary and consistently geared towards concrete applications – in close collaboration with partners from industry, the public sector and academia.
