Sustainable Resources Management (SRM)

The term sustainable resources management refers to developing and implementing methods and solutions for using and protecting resources such as water, energy and raw materials as well as treating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste streams and wastewater.

The SRM group investigates the impacts of human consumption and production systems (SDG 12) on planetary health, i.e. human health (SDG 3) and ecosystems health and resources (SDG 6, 13, 14, 15). In close collaboration with practice, we develop concepts and assess projects on sustainable consumption and production in biological and technological circular systems as shown in the figure below (biocycle- and technocycle economy). Our research team draws on a large portfolio of sustainability and participatory state-of-the-art assessment methods as well as strong cooperations within national and international research networks.
