Congratulations, Dr. Alessandro Stumpo!
We are delighted to celebrate Alessandro Stumpo, who successfully defended his PhD thesis on 26 October 2026 at FHNW, in collaboration with Dr. Francis Jacob (University Hospital Basel) and Prof.Jonathan de Roo (University of Basel).
His thesis, “Developing SERS Nanotags: From Surface Chemistry to Targeted Ovarian Cancer Imaging,” focused on developing gold nanoparticle-based nanotags for Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS), with the aim of improving the specific detection and imaging of ovarian cancer cells.
His work combines surface chemistry, nanotechnology and biomedical imaging, contributing to the development of more precise approaches to cancer diagnostics and potentially future surgical applications.
Alessandro’s PhD research was supported by the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI).
Congratulations, Alessandro, on this important milestone! We are proud to have been part of your scientific journey and wish you every success in your next chapter.
