In 2025, Martin Stübe completed his bachelor's thesis in Flensburg.
What made you decide to go abroad?
A great position for a bachelor’s thesis at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences was advertised. I was fascinated by the project. Additionally, there was the appeal of the financial benefits, as well as the attraction of living in a city by the sea.
What is your everyday life like?
I am very flexible with my working hours. I can start in the morning whenever I want, and if needed, I can also work from home. I live directly on campus, which gives me a lot of free time due to the short commute. The beach and the forest are not far away, so after work I often spend time outside my dormitory. There are also plenty of sports activities available, which help to balance everyday life.
Tell us about your research during your residency.
I am conducting research with fungi and have developed a method to cultivate fungi in the laboratory using a microtiter plate. This method was developed to study the influence of different fungicides on various fungal species.
What surprised you the most about your stay abroad?
I was surprised by how quickly I was able to connect with people here. I soon got to know many nice young people - connections that will likely last beyond this one semester.
Take your chance to study abroad!
