Future Prospects

As a graduate of the DS&AI for Sport specialization, you are an expert in Sports Analytics. You use sports data and performance metrics to help, for example, top athletes optimize their performance or perfect game tactics. You might also work closely with sports scientists to develop training plans for recreational sports. Or perhaps you collaborate with doctors and physiotherapists to revolutionize rehabilitation for injured individuals. Whatever field you choose, your skills contribute to taking the world of sports in new, data-driven directions.

Possible areas of application include game analysis, training management, sports management, and sports economics.

Possible Career Fields

Sports Data Analyst:
Use data to improve team performance, strategy, and decision-making by analyzing player performance, game tactics, and opponents’ weaknesses.

Rehabilitation Data Analyst:
Support physiotherapy through data analysis to individually optimize patient rehabilitation.

Business Strategy Analyst:
Research and analyze market trends, competition, and company performance to guide long-term strategy and decision-making in the sports sector.

Sport Data Engineer:
Develop and maintain the systems that manage and process the vast amounts of data used in sports analytics.

Data-Driven Sports Journalist:
Use data-driven storytelling and visual information processing to discover and tell the most compelling stories from the world of sports.

Structure and Content

This specialization is fully integrated into the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program curriculum. You acquire all the data science competencies required for data-driven analysis, machine learning, and the development of digital solutions.

In addition, you specialize in the application of data science in the field of sports and expand your skill set with the following abilities:

  • Data analysis & modeling for optimizing athlete performance, training management, and game analysis
  • Sports analytics & wearable data for evaluating movement, health, and performance data
  • Strategic decision support for clubs, associations, and sports organizations through data-driven insights
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with experts from sports science, medicine, psychology, and technology

You can acquire these competencies through regular modules or via Open Learning.
Open Learning means that you decide where, how, and when you learn. You can acquire a skill, for example, through online research and learning videos, in your professional practice, or through an applied challenge within your studies.
