Finite Element Simulations Lab FHNW

We conduct research with multiphysical simulation embedded in the overall context of product development between initial concept and final validation.

Our offer

Finite element simulation is an effective tool for assessing the suitability of certain concepts or variants relatively early on in your product development process. In doing so, we gain knowledge of the entire behaviour of a component (or assembly): the structural-mechanical, thermal, fluid-mechanical and also the electromechanical or chemical behaviour. Any coupling of these fields is also possible.

For more information or to discuss a collaboration, please contact Jürg Küffer.

Infrastructure

We dispose of the most recent High Performance Computing infrastructure and all common Finite Element Method simulation software packages.

Dynamic impact simulation of an aluminum wheel rim (collaboration with Ronal AG).

The Finite Element Simulations Lab is part of the FHNW Institute of Product and Production Engineering

  • Institute of Product and Production Engineering

We focus on the development of products and manufacturing processes, and apply cutting-edge technologies.
