All laboratories from A to Z
3D Scanning and 3D Printing Lab
Optically measure objects in three dimensions and print polymer components using the poly-jet mode modelling process.
Accredited test centre for Wood firing systems STS 0396
The testing centre for wood-burning stoves is accredited as a type C laboratory by the Swiss Accreditation Service SAS. A type C laboratory is authorised to develop and validate its own test procedures and have these procedures accredited and can therefore respond much more flexibly to the specific needs of customers.
Acoustics and Vibrations Lab
Laboratory for acoustic and vibration measurements.
Additive Manufacturing Lab
In our automated DED processing cell with innovative flexible beam shaping, we support you with process developments and feasibility studies under production-like conditions.
Aerosol Technology Laboratory
In the Aerosol Laboratory, we enable the measurement and production of fine dust from the nanometer to micrometer range using commercial and self-developed devices.
Analytical Lab for Polymers
The Analytical Lab for Polymers offers the characterisation of plastic samples using thermoanalytical and spectroscopic methods.
Biomass Chemistry Lab
The biomass chemistry laboratory of the Institute of Bioenergy and Resource Efficiency offers you optimal equipment for a variety of biomass experiments and their analysis.
Catalytic Process Engineering (CPE) Labs
Catalytic Process Engineering (CPE) Labs
Combustion Laboratory
The FHNW's combustion laboratory offers extensive infrastructure for carrying out thermal decomposition processes in a controlled manner and recording all material and energy flows.
Combustion Research Lab
In the combustion research laboratory, we analyse engine processes and combustion methods using optical measurement technology. A special focus here is on alternative fuels.
Component Testing Lab
We carry out mechanical tests on parts and components in our component testing laboratory.
Control Systems Lab
In our laboratory, you have access to the latest technologies and industrial model systems for control engineering tests.
Control Technology Lab
Discover our modern laboratory for control systems in industry, where practical applications in control technology and vertical integration are realistically implemented and deepened using the latest models and integrated network infrastructure.
Development of Lasers and Optical Systems Lab
We develop ultrafast lasers (fs pulses) and photonic systems for applications in biomedicine, micromaterial processing and optical communication.
Digital Power Lab
The aim of the Digital Power Lab is to develop software and hardware solutions for a sustainable, electrified society.
Electric Power Systems Lab
In the Electric Power Systems Lab our experts measure energy technology components such as magnetic components, power converters and electrical machines. They also test charging stations and batteries for electromobility as well as electromagnetic simulations and modeling of machines and drive components.
Electronics Lab
We offer you an extensive and well-equipped electronics laboratory for a wide range of electronic activities, e.g. for creating circuits or recording measured variables.
Electronics Teaching Lab
The Teaching Lab has twelve electronics lab stations and computers with dual-boot Windows/Linux. This makes it possible to immerse yourself in both hardware and software. This lab is used by our Bachelor's degree courses, our continuing education courses and for specific workshops (e.g. Young Talent Promotion Programme).
EMC Lab
Before you are allowed to launch your electronic device on the market, you as the manufacturer must have its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tested by an accredited laboratory to ensure that it complies with the regulations. To ensure that your product passes the compliance test at an early stage, a pre-compliance EMC test in our EMC laboratory is a good idea.
Eye Movement and Usability Lab
Versatile eye-tracking systems for research and interaction studies as well as usability tests.
Finite Element Simulations Lab
We conduct research with multiphysical simulation embedded in the overall context of product development between initial concept and final validation.
Functional Coatings Lab
In our Functional Coatings Lab, we enable functional coatings to be produced using electron beam-assisted grafting of hydrogels, curing of UV coatings or plasma polymerisation.
Industrial Vision Lab
For industrial image processing tasks, investigations can be carried out with different lighting, lenses and cameras.
Innovation Garden
The FHNW Innovation Garden is an outdoor laboratory covering an area of 35 square meters. It makes it possible to develop sensors and electronics for the assessment of soil, plants and air and to test them in a real environment.
Laboratory for Emission Measurements
In the laboratory for emission measurements, we support you with our infrastructure to measure and characterise gas and particle emissions from thermal decomposition processes.
