Development of Lasers and Optical Systems Lab FHNW, FHNW School of Engineering and Environment

School of Engineering and Environment

We develop ultrafast lasers (fs pulses) and photonic systems for applications in biomedicine, micromaterial processing and optical communication.

Our offer

We develop and implement application-specific, customised ultrafast lasers and optical systems. Optimised laser properties that are not commercially available enable advances in application performance and potential. With our lasers, we develop state-of-the-art optical measurement and imaging systems, including ultra-high resolution optical coherence tomography and optical tweezers, to name but a few.

Our research is interdisciplinary and therefore we are always looking for motivated and talented students of photonics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and systems engineering as well as interested partners from industry and science for challenging projects.

Get in touch with us

For more information or to discuss a collaboration, please contact Bojan Resan.

Infrastructure

  • Large optical tables with flow boxes
  • Various fs lasers
  • Wide selection of high-end measuring devices

    • z. e.g. 400-1700 nm optical spectrum analyser and several spectrometers,
    • 16 GHz scanning and several other oscilloscopes,
    • two autocorrelators,
    • Spiricon M2 measurement,
    • several power meters,
    • fast photodiodes, etc.)
  • Various microscopes

The Development of Lasers and Optical Systems Lab is part of the FHNW Institute of Product and Production Engineering

Institute of Product and Production Engineering

We focus on the development of products and manufacturing processes, and apply cutting-edge technologies.
