User Experience and Usability

As experts in human-centred design, our laboratory supports you from user research and design prototyping to the evaluation of user experience and usability. We use these methods to create positive user experiences that fully meet the requirements and needs of the respective target groups.

The focus of the human-centred design process is always on people. This applies to all phases of the development of digital or physical products, services and processes. Incorporating a range of stakeholders such as users, customers and experts in product development and service design ensures a high level of usability and a positive user experience (UX).

With our extensive experience in research and development, we accompany and support you from the initial conception to the evaluation of your UX project. In our User Experience & Usability area of expertise, we cover the entire spectrum from qualitative to quantitative methods – in the field as well as in the laboratory.

How we support you

We support you in all phases of the human-centred design process: from early user research and context analysis to the evaluation and further development of the UX and usability.

You can design the entire iterative development process together with us or choose individual elements of our offer:

1. Context analysis: as part of our user research, we analyse the context in which users and other stakeholders operate, pursue their goals and complete tasks. Example methods: expert and focus group interviews, ethnographic observations, quantitative surveys, etc.

2. User requirements: derived from the objectives and requirements that users encounter in their environment, we define the user requirements that a system must meet in order to fulfil the needs of a range of stakeholders. Example methods: personas, user journey maps, destination catalogues, etc.

3. Design prototyping: together, we design the UX and develop design concepts for user interfaces, products, services and processes. Example methods: participatory workshops such as design thinking, paper prototypes, mock-ups, service simulations, etc.

4. UX and usability evaluation: we evaluate products, services and systems with regard to their usability and UX. Example methods: qualitative, exploratory/diagnostic or validating UX/usability tests, eye tracking, quantitative UX/usability tests, expert evaluation, etc.
