obn_a  - A situated Archive of the Old Boys Network

The documenta archive launches a platform for the early cyberfeminist alliance Old Boys Network. On this occasion, artist Malin Kuht held 12 interviews with former Old Boyz. One of them is with Yvonne Volkart, Head of Research am Institut Kunst Gender Natur (IAGN).

Cyberfeminism is a historical predecessor of current issues around gender & technology. The Old Boys Network OBN was a cyberfeminist network who held international conferences, published readers and served as a platform for a plethora of activities in the late 1990s. Now, the historical files and documents of OBN have been collected and transferred into the openly accessible archive of the documenta archive.

The goal was to create an infrastructure that allows for research on cyberfeminism, its spirit, its objectives and its expressions in theory, art and visual culture, but also in hands-on-technology practice, as well as to understand, more broadly, the spirit of early internet culture.
