Testing power semiconductors and power electronics

We offer to our partners and customers various test methods for power semiconductors, components, power converters and drives.

Precise knowledge of the characteristics of power electronic components and systems is crucial for their development. This often requires special tests which we offer to our partners and customers.

Test services for power semiconductors

  • Load cycling tests (power cycling), also bi-directional (= IGBT and diode in the same test)
  • Analysis Zth, thermal cross-coupling between different dies in the module or between different components on a common heatsink.
  • Cosmic ray tests (die & discrete components), irradiation with protons and neutrons possible
  • Curve tracer (static characteristics): from die to module level.

Test services for power electronics and drives

  • Electrical machines (up to approx. 10 kW): efficiency, speed-torque characteristics. On request in accordance with current standards.
  • Power converters (up to approx. 10 kW): efficiency, switching behavior.
  • Electrical filters: Filter effect, Bode diagram, efficiency.
  • Drives (inverter + machine): Efficiency, speed-torque characteristics. On request in accordance with current standards.

Test services for inductive components

  • Inductive components: Bode diagram (inductance, frequency dependency, resonances, losses)
  • Magnetic core materials for inductive components: Hysteresis curve, losses, frequency dependence (Hz - MHz), determination of Steinmetz parameters.

The planning, execution and evaluation of the tests are carried out in consultation with the client. More details about the Cosmic Ray tests can be found here.
