Activities at FHNW

Profile

In 1990 Michael Pülz graduated from the University of Applied Science in Konstanz, Germany. He majored in Business Information Systems. He then received a Fulbright scholarship for studying at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, USA, where he received his Master of Science in Computer Science in 1991. From 1992 until 1995 he was a research and teaching assistant at the University of Basel (Business School) and worked on his Ph.D. focussing on Knowledge-Based Systems in the field of education (Intelligent Tutoring Systems).

Between 1995 and 2000 Michael worked at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in Basel. His responsibilities covered leading an IT customer relation team, Information Management, Service Level Management, IT Outsourcing projects and IT audit management.

In 2000 Michael Pülz joined the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and is a professor for Business Information Systems and Project Management at the Business School.

He is Programme Head Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology.

He teaches both at graduate and undergraduate level ("Project Management" and "Information Systems"). His primary interests are in Project Management methodologies, Artificial Intelligence / Knowledge-Based Systems, Business Information Systems, and Organisational Psychology.

Michael also holds a “Master of Organizational Psychology”. Besides his tasks at FHNW, he works as a senior consultant for IAP Basel (Institute of Applied Psychology).

He was a project manager in two KTI-funded PersECA-programm (“Personalisation of E-Commerce Applications) and managed the Swiss Virtual Campus project “IT/IM online”.

Recently, he visited University of West Florida, USA, Capilano University in North Vancouver, Canada, and University of Central Oklahoma, USA.
