Course description

This COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) module focuses on social entrepreneurship, which refers to the practice of developing and running ventures that aim to create positive social and/or environmental impact, alongside financial sustainability. In this course, students from Switzerland and Angola will collaborate to explore the concept of social entrepreneurship from both local and global perspectives. The main goal of the module is to enable students to develop, discuss, and refine ideas for social startups that could be launched in Angola, Switzerland, or through cross-border partnerships. Through online teamwork, intercultural exchange, and joint problem-solving, students will gain insights into different social challenges, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and innovation approaches. They will learn to identify unmet social needs, design viable business models, and evaluate the potential impact of their ideas. The COIL experience encourages critical thinking, creativity, and cross-cultural collaboration. Ultimately, the module aims to inspire a new generation of socially conscious entrepreneurs who can contribute to positive change in their own communities and beyond.
