A valuable summer for many MSc International Management students, FHNW School of Business

During the summer months, students in the Master’s Degree programme in Intenational Management had the opportunity to add even more international exchange experience to their portfolio.

A total of 32 students from ten different countries participated in the international summer programme organised by the Estonian Business School (EBS) in Tallinn, Estonia.

The week-long intensive programme brought together students, academics and experts from around the world to explore how digital innovation and long-term sustainability are transforming the economy, industry and public institutions.

The overarching aim was to prepare students for the analytical, collaborative and communicative challenges posed by digitalisation and sustainability, both as academic fields of study and as practical, international organisational realities.

The Summer School focused on the so-called ‘twin transition’ – the dual challenge of driving digital innovation whilst ensuring sustainable development. Over the course of five days, participants attended lectures and workshops on topics such as Estonia’s digital governance and its transformation from a ‘start-up nation’ to an industrial cleantech hub, the digitalisation of the European energy sector, the EU’s digital integration policy, responsible AI governance, and the use of scenario planning to address geopolitical and technological uncertainty.

A key component of the week was a practice-oriented final project. International teams selected a real-world company or organisation, identified the key factors that could shape its development up to 2035 in relation to AI and the green transition, and used these to develop alternative future scenarios. The teams presented their analyses and strategic recommendations at a final workshop on the last day of the programme.

Throughout the summer, 24 MSc International Management students spent intensive weeks at the European Innovation Academy. This programme took place in three countries and was co-hosted by the Bayes Business School in London, UK, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in Italy and the University of Porto Portugal. The students immersed themselves in different topics, from startups, food tech, creative businesses to technology and finance.
