Activities

Overview

The research field of business artificial intelligence brings together key topics in artificial intelligence (AI) in the business sector: from automated data analysis and decision-making to personalised application experiences and self-learning algorithms that optimise business processes.

Together, we support companies in strategically exploiting the potential of AI – in product development, customer service, marketing and intelligent business processes. With sound methods, practical research and interdisciplinary expertise, we are shaping the intelligent future of the economy.

Thematic focus

Research focus

The field of business artificial intelligence research encompasses the following key areas of research.

Cybernetic Learning Systems optimises business processes and increases competitive advantages through machine learning and deep learning. Its areas of focus include simulations, (deep) reinforcement learning, operations research, process optimisation, business analysis, statistics, multi-objective optimisation and digital twins.

Data-Driven AI uses machine learning and business intelligence to gain insights, optimise processes and provide decision support – for precise, forward-looking business management.

Intelligent Information Systems helps companies use AI to add value. Human experience and expertise are indispensable, especially when making decisions with far-reaching consequences. Some areas require strict compliance with laws, supported by knowledge-based systems.

Knowledge-based AI is revolutionising businesses: intelligent modelling, case-based decision-making and ontology-based systems are creating adaptive applications that support human expertise and improve business processes in the long term.

Language-based AI is developing natural communication: NLP, chatbots and dialogue-oriented systems are creating genuine collaboration between humans and machines – for efficient interaction and intelligent support in everyday life.
