Digital Engineering, FHNW School of Engineering and Environment

School of Engineering and Environment

This specialisation focuses on the vital tasks and skills involved in developing and implementing an entrepreneurial digital transformation.

Digital Engineering is a specialisation in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management degree programme.

Digital engineering affects Industry 4.0 projects or the introduction of e-business with the help of digital assistants, for example. In addition to technological drivers (data science, neural networks, blockchain, social media, cooperation platforms, social bots, etc.), digital engineering provides the necessary understanding of the associated overall corporate transformation. A digital transformation cannot simply “be bought", in fact it requires a digitalisation strategy, digital business models and the subsequent engineering of business processes, organisation, skills and IT systems.

"Students of the Digital Engineering specialisation learn in the corresponding modules and project work to accompany companies in the digital transformation. In addition to the compulsory modules, there is a wide range of other optional modules to help students tailor their studies optimally to their own interests."
Manuel Bachler, student
