Roboterhand und menschliche Hand, die sich an den Fingerspitzen berühren

Background

A company in the construction supply industry is faced with the challenge of complex production planning, which is characterized by several factors: diversified construction project business, contract manufacturing, multiple production steps on different machines and different employee qualifications. Planning must take into account a variety of objectives such as adherence to deadlines, maximum machine utilization and minimizing throughput times. This complexity places particularly high demands on production planning and coordination.

Goals

The main objective of this project is to demonstrate the feasibility of individual AI-based planning assistants to improve complex production planning. To this end, a prototype is being developed for a specific application. This is intended to use innovative AI technologies in routine planning tasks such as order release or order sequence planning. The developed prototype will provide information on how AI assistants can improve the efficiency, adaptability and robustness of production planning and how they can facilitate the training of new employees.

Results

The desired outcome of the project is to make production planning more efficient and flexible with the help of a prototype of a customized, AI-based planning assistant. It is intended to simplify routine tasks and make the planning process more flexible. The implementation will reduce the training time for new employees. The successful use of the prototype should confirm the feasibility and benefits of AI support in production planning.
