Lecturer, Institute for Competitiveness and Communication

      Profile

Johan Lindeque is currently a researcher at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and assistant professor of strategy at the University of Amsterdam Business School, The Netherlands. He completed his PhD at the University of Bath School of Management, UK, and was previously lecturer in international business at Queen's University Management School, Belfast, UK.

He studies international business with respect to energy and international trade; currently his work is primarily related to the European energy sector. His work on the European internal energy market focuses on the responses of firms in changing regional institutions governing the energy market. Previously he has studies the global governance of international trade through international organisations such as the WTO, with a particular focus on dispute settlement at the national and multilateral levels. He has a particular interest in how the institutional environment and firm specific advantages interact in these two areas, as reflected in the pursuit of integrated strategies by firms. Integrated strategies seek to create value by aligning competitive and nonmarket (political / social) strategies, thereby achieving more efficient and effective outcomes for the firm(s) concerned.
