Already as a student in the Swiss-Asian MBA, Jayson saw parallels between his former profession as a mixologist and his path to becoming en entrepreneur. After his graduation, he tells us how he is turning his dream into reality.

As a former professional mixologist, I always believed magic lies in blending the right ingredients. Little did I know that years of crafting cocktails would prepare myself for my true passion: combining Swiss precision with Chinese efficiency.

Already before my MBA studies, I developed the idea for a startup: I wanted to help Swiss SMEs navigate China’s manufacturing landscape. However, turning this vision into reality required strategic know-how, cultural competencies, and a network of trusted allies. Here is where FHNW’s MBA programme comes into play.

I didn’t choose FHNW for a degree. I chose it for doors it could open. The programme’s global focus and practical methods mirrored my entrepreneurial mindset. A good example is our Malaysia study trip: what started as a late-night brainstorming session with classmates having some drinks, evolved into a partnership with a supply chain expert who now co-leads our company’s operations with me. Today, three FHNW alumni are integral to my company. More than proof that the MBA’s true value lies in its people.

The programme transformed my basic idea into a structured venture:
• Thesis as Foundation: My research on Swiss-Chinese trade dynamics became the blueprint for SCS.
• Cultural Agility: Courses on negotiation and compliance taught me to navigate guanxi(关系) in China while upholding Swiss standards.
• Network Fuel: The MBA network with peers in Shanghai, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur enabled me to connect with suppliers and customers I would never have reached on my own.

Today, SwissChina Solutions GmbH (SCS) helps SMEs bridge cultural and logistical gaps between Switzerland and China, while SCSplastic specializes in precision plastic engineering, turning raw pellets into flawless components for Medtech, automotive, and beyond. Both divisions share one credo: Swiss rigor meets Chinese scalability.
