Target audience

The Swiss-International MBA is tailor-made for innovative managers, entrepreneurs and experts in Switzerland/Europe and around the world. It is meant for individuals who aspire to obtain an official Swiss Master’s degree and with keen interest in business cultures around the world. The regional focus is reflected in the individual choice of International Study Trips and respective case studies.


Structure & programme contents

Swiss-International MBA builds on FHNW’s long-standing MBA tradition (on-campus programmes since 1992) and offers a fully online, blended-learning experience. It consists of key modules covering all importante subjects relevant for managers:

  1. Leadership and Human Resource Management
  2. Strategic Management
  3. Financial Management
  4. Competitive and Social Environment
  5. Management of the Organization
  6. International Management
  7. Special Module “Digital Transformation”

Knowledge is delivered through a flexible online format, with short live seminars on Saturdays and study activities in the virtual classroom during the week to encourage interaction and collaboration. About 75% of the programme take place online; the remaining 25% consist of immersive international study trips.

Core modules are completed in approximately 16 months followed by six months dedicated to the master thesis. Thanks to the modular structure and rolling intake, the programme can be completed at a flexible pace.

Optional focus on Asia

The Swiss-International MBA is designed to account for any regional preferences. If you prefer to focus on Asia specifically, you have the option to pursue the programme accordingly and obtain the Swiss-Asian MBA designation. While the curriculum and its course modules remains unchanged, study trips are predefined with one to Switzerland and two to Asia. In addition, your master thesis topic shall be somehow related to the Asia region.

International

International study trips are a core element of the programme, providing direct access to global business ecosystems. You’ll engage with peers, faculty and key decision-makers in various organisations across diverse industries, gaining valuable insights into how business is done in a given region and how the cultural fabric works.

Thanks to strong partnerships with guest professors, universities and a wide range of organisations worldwide, international study trips include a selection of visits to start-ups and multinational companies, embassies, (non-)governmental bodies, supranational agencies and academic partners.


Requirements & admission

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised institution (any field of study).
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
  • Admission interview.

Programme Fees

CHF 24 900 plus travel expenses for international study trips. Course fees are payable in four tranches over a period of 18 months.

Teaching Locations

The Swiss-International MBA is set up as an e-learning programme, complemented by international study trips in Switzerland and selected locations around the world (subject to schedule).
