The Buddy Programme brings international and local students together. It supports international students as they settle in and offers FHNW students the opportunity to share their experience and connect across cultures.
What is the Buddy programme?
Arriving in a new country raises many issues, including registering your residence, dealing with rubbish, choosing the right public transport ticket or finding your way around campus. This is exactly where the Buddy Programme comes in.
The programme brings together new international arrivals and experienced FHNW students. As an FHNW buddy, you help them settle in, answer their questions about everyday life and being a student here, and make it easier for them to start their exchange semester.
Buddies are often available to answer questions even before their international partner arrives. They can pick them up from the train station on request and are a direct point of contact throughout their stay.
Who can become a Buddy?
The Buddy Programme is open to all FHNW students who
- enjoy getting to know new people and cultures
- want to use and improve their foreign languages
- want to expand their personal and professional network
As a buddy, you will strengthen your intercultural competence and sensitivity. For your commitment, you will receive a buddy certificate from the School of Life Sciences, which you can use for future applications.
How can you register?
The Buddy Programme is coordinated by the FHNW Erasmus Student Network (ESN).
The International Office sends out registration information twice a year by email:
- December for the spring semester
- July for the autumn semester
The email contains the registration form and all other relevant information.
