About the institute

The Institute of Chemistry and Bioanalytics advances research that serves the chemical, medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Our work in chemistry focuses on production and characterization of new substances and materials, using cutting-edge methods in synthesis chemistry, analytics, process engineering and surface- and nanotechnology.

In the medical sector, we develop easy to use diagnostic tests that patients can administer themselves, applying our expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and cell culture technologies.

To support pharmaceutical research and drug development, we design state-of-the-art 3D cellular models and new approach methodologies (NAMs) that contribute to the replacement, reduction, and refinement of animal use in drug development and testing, in line with the 3R principles.

We also develop new molecules such as antibodies, peptides and enzymes for diagnostic, therapeutic, and catalytic applications.
