A great opportunity for both students and staff!
Every year, the International Student Projects (ISP) allow FHNW students to explore the world’s economic and cultural diversity. The four projects – Insight China, Focus India, connectUS and exploreASEAN – offer unique in-depth opportunities to get to know international markets, innovative companies and political systems.
The projects are structured around three core phases:
- February: A week-long preparatory seminar in Olten featuring expert talks, workshops and company visits
- March/April: A two-week on-site seminar in the host country with visits to companies, universities and institutions
- May: A closing event in Switzerland where participants present their insights
In 2025, two members of the FHNW School of Life Sciences (HLS) travelled to Southeast Asia with exploreASEAN: Pascal Gfeller, a BSc student in medical engineering, and Michael de Wild, lecturer at the Institute for Medical Engineering and Medical Informatics. They visited Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, where they toured innovative companies, attended specialist lectures and exchanged ideas with local and international experts. Under the theme “Building Bridges for Young Talent” they gained valuable insights into sustainable technologies and global economic developments.

International Student Projects are open to HLS students and staff. Information on how to apply will be published in October.
