Unlocking wastewater treatment, water reuse and resource recovery opportunities for urban and peri-urban areas in India
The aim of the Pavitra Ganga project is to develop innovative, cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions for the treatment of (unregulated) wastewater in India. By improving existing sewage treatment plants and decentralised wastewater treatment in urban and peri-urban areas, we will exploit the economic and development policy opportunities offered by water reuse and resource recovery within the circular economy.
Together with project partners, we are analysing successful and unsuccessful water management systems in India and Europe and developing technology-based wastewater safety plans. We are also evaluating innovative technologies holistically using life cycle analysis and cost-benefit analysis.
