Curriculum Vitae
After graduating with honors from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 1997, David Plantier quickly established himself as a baroque violinist in leading European ensembles and was soon in demand as a concertmaster and soloist by many conductors of the early music scene. He worked with René Jacobs, Chiara Banchini and Martin Gester and was concertmaster of the baroque orchestra La Cetra, which he also conducted for two recordings with music by Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello and Francesco Venturini.
Today, David Plantier is concertmaster of "Le Concert d'Astrée" under the direction of Emmanuelle Haïm and plays regularly with "Le Concert des Nations" (conducted by Jordi Savall), Amarillis and Café Zimmermann. His interest in unknown repertoire has led to intensive research, the results of which he presents with his own ensemble "Les Plaisirs du Parnasse". His recording of the sonatas for violin and basso continuo by Johann Paul von Westhoff was enthusiastically acclaimed by European critics. He has also recorded works by Johann Jakob Walther and Heinrich Ignaz Biber with his ensemble.
Most recently, he recorded sonatas for violin solo by Giuseppe Tartini and played numerous concerts with cellist Annabelle Luis as Duo Tartini. It is important for David Plantier to pass on this rich experience, which is why he has been teaching at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis since 1998, both at the music school and at the university (Variantinstrument). He plays a Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin of 1766.
