In Basel PreCollege is run by the music schools of the Musik-Akademie Basel, together with Basel Academy of Music (Klassik, Jazz and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis).

The PreCollege is a comprehensive programme designed to prepare students for music studies

- in Jazz as well as in

- Music and Movement.
Collaboration
The Basel PreCollege is a joint project of the Basel Music School, part of the Basel Music Academy, and the FHNW Academy of Music Basel with its institutes for classical music, jazz and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
Details
Goal
Admission to a university of music
Duration
One year, beginning in mid-August, for classical music, jazz, early music and school music.
Six months, beginning in October, for music and movement.
Minimum age
16 years old, recommended older than 18 years
Requirements
High level of talent, keen interest in music and a clear desire to study music.
Registration
Before registering, an online consultation (in spring) is mandatory.
The date will be announced on this website in good time.
Entrance exam
An entrance exam will take place after registration.
Admission/Start
Mid-August
Teachers
The teachers belong to the teaching staff of the Music School of Music Academy Basel; in justified exceptional cases, they may belong to the Basel Academy of Music. This option must be discussed with the PreCollege management in a consultation meeting prior to registration.

The music school's fees apply.
