What is a degree programme?
It is the basic orientation, a structured educational programme with a fixed sequence and final goal. The following degree programmes are offered at Basel Academy of Music:

What is a study field?
In music studies, a study field refers to a specialisation within a degree programme. Study fields are chosen before the start of the programme, at the time of enrolment. The study fields at Basel Academy of Music are listed together with the degree programme as the degree qualification.

Offering PreCollege
Young talents can prepare specifically for admission to a Music Academy with us. At the interface between University and music school, the PreCollege at the Basel Academy offers students tailor-made support in their respective main instrumental, vocal or composition subjects, always in conjunction with lessons in ear training and music theory.
Institut Klassik
A wide range of courses, from music education to solo performance, from contemporary or electronic music to scene and movement: diversity in teaching and research is a hallmark of the Institut Klassik.

Appearance and performance
In-house concert halls, performance spaces, and a jazz club offer students numerous opportunities to perform. The university's network of cultural institutions in Basel further expands the range of opportunities available. We are committed to ensuring that our students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of concert formats during their studies. All concerts are published in the Basel Music Academy's calendar of events.
