Curriculum Vitae

Under the stage name Vic Hardt, Victor Uebelhart can be heard as a drummer on numerous albums, including several by Thomas Moeckel and Roland Von Flüe, and he has also recorded a disc with the group Kick the habit. He has been a member of the teaching staff at the Musikschule Jazz Basel since the beginning of 1986, teaches drums and looks back on his training at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, where his most influential teachers were the drummer Billy Brooks and the school director himself, the pianist, arranger and bandleader Joe Haider.

He began playing drums and vibraphone in 1970 with Jean-Claude Forestier and then studied for a year until 1981 at the Basel Music Academy with Siegfried Schmied. The extent of his further training is marked by several workshops in the USA, some of which were extended, and with such renowned musicians as Joe Moretto, Danny Gottlieb, Ed Thigpen, Peter Erskine, Julio Baretto, Bruno Biriaco, Jack De Johnette, Mel Lewis, Billy Hart and Joel Rosenblatt. Vic Hardt has worked with the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, Glenn Ferris, Axel Fischbacher, Daniel Schnyder, Oscar and David Klein, Niggi Leiser, to name but a few musicians.

Productions have also brought him together with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Theatre, and he is often engaged as a studio musician. Together with Fred Lang, he can occasionally be heard with Freederland, which was formed out of his enthusiasm for the American fusion band The Yellowjackets.
