Walter Jauslin

Piano Didactics instructor

Born in Basel, the Swiss-Spanish pianist Walter Jauslin is active in various musical fields. After studying jazz at the FHNW School of Music, he gave various concerts in Switzerland and abroad as a leader and sideman in stylistically diverse areas.

He has been involved in various CD productions: Daniel Blanc Quartet, MeMellow, Harald Haerter, Detto Fatto Group, Marius Bürgisser, Martina Achermann etc. His first CD production with his own compositions was released in 2015 under the title Die Nacht - Walter Jauslin Quintett.

Since 1995, he has been teaching piano, theory, improvisation, ensemble, didactics and music physiology advice for music teachers at the FHNW School of Music Jazz Department and at the Jazz Music School. In addition to his musical activities, he has acquired a private pilot's licence, attended a naturopathic school in Switzerland and Germany and completed the CAS "Music Physiology for Music Teachers", which prompted him to set up a contact point for music physiological advice and support at the Jazzcampus. Various health and playing technique issues relating to music-making can be addressed here.

As the basis of his work as a music teacher, he tries to touch the joy of joyful sound production in the pupils themselves, to awaken the musical perception already present in them and to allow their own inner music teacher to sprout.
