Here we explain how to procede

Registration process

  • You can register between 15 December and 31 January for studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis; for Institut Jazz until 15 February; for studies at the Institut Klassik until 1 March.
  • Please check the general information on dates of the exams, costs etc. further down on this page.
  • Depending on the degree programme, you will need various documents such as CV/letter of motivation, certificates/diplomas, portrait photo.
  • A list of works for the study programmes of the Institute Klassik and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
  • For various degree programmes or majors a video is required. You will find all the information you need on the site of your chosen programme under "admission/entrance exam".
  • To register, go to the website of the degree programme for which you wish to register. There you can find the key data and a button "To registration" (pages in English lead to the registration in English, and German pages accordingly). Please be patient, it may take a moment for the tool to load. You will be guided through the registration process.

Create a SWITCH edu-ID
At the beginning of the registration process, you need to create a SWITCH edu-ID. What is a SWITCH edu-ID?

Various registrations
If you are registering for more than one Major, an additional application must be completed.
Your personal data will remain on file.
The institutes will determine if the registration fee has to be paid more than once.

Admission process

Procedure
Detailed information about the procedure may be found in the respective degree programmes.

Language
Generally, the entrance exam will be held in German and English. We recommend having basic German language skills at the entrance exam.

Jury
The jury consists of the lecturers of the respective major and members of the directional board.

Announcement of the results
The results will be communicated by email through the Students Administration Office.

Requirements

Those who meet the admission criteria can register for the entrance exam. The details of the entrance exams, including language requirements, are specified in the respective study regulations for all degree programmes and their majors.

Fees

Payment of the registration fee of CHF 200 is due directly at the end of your registration process. Your online payment options are credit card (VISA/Mastercard), Postfinance. The or TWINT. The registration process will not be completed without payment of the registration fee. The registration fee will not be refunded.
