Aims and benefits
The certificate course enables trained musicians to expand and deepen their artistic skills. The continuing education programme can be individually tailored and, in consultation with the lecturers, various areas of focus and specialisations are possible: specialisations in repertoire, stylistic or instrument-specific areas of focus, or particular musical interests.
The main instrument is usually taught by one lecturer, but team teaching is possible. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.
Upon agreement, this continuing education programme can also be taken with a chamber music group.

Upon explicit recommendation by the main subject lecturer, participation in master classes is generally possible.

Who is the CAS Music Performance course aimed at?
The CAS Music Performance is aimed at certified musicians who wish to expand and deepen their practical musical skills.
Structure and programme contents
The CAS/DAS-programmes at the Basel Academy of Music are based on modules.
The legally binding structure provides an initial guide to the content and weighting of the subjects on the continuing education. Several modules correspond to those in the degree programme.

Structure
The continuing education programme is structured as follows over two semesters:

The certificate is awarded after successful completion of the diploma examination (public recital).

Requirements, admission, entrance exam
Admission criteria
In order to enter the Certificate of Advanced Studies FHNW in Music Performance programme, applicants must be awarded a master's degree in Music or equivalent as well as they must have passed the entrance exam and were offered a free place at the Academy (limited places). In exceptional cases, the continuing education programme head will decide.

The entrance exam is individual for each programme.

Registration
You may apply until 31st May.
Along with the registration, it is mandatory to submit the following documents:
- a motivational letter
- Master diploma in Music Pedagogy or Performance (or an equivalent general education qualification)
- both links to the videos with their belonging list of works
Announcement of the results
The results of the entrance exam will be communicated by mail.
Procedure
The Entrance exam is one video round.
Entrance exam: Video recordings
A video recording must be submitted together with the registration.
Video requirements
Repertoire requirements
- Each video consists one single work/movement.
- Each work/movement must be recorded from a fixed camera perspective and without any cuts.
- The hands and the face of the musician must be visible.
- It is recommended to use a suitable stereo microphone and place it conveniently.
- The recordings must not be older than 6 months.
- Publicly recorded concerts may be submitted as long as they meet the above-mentioned requirements.
